Why You Should Take Your Makeup Off Before You Sleep...

I know, it's inconvenient. I promise, I know. The "I'm so sleepy I can't even walk to the bathroom to brush my teeth, let alone wash off all that makeup I wore today" feeling is so overpowering that you almost want to cry a little as you crawl to the bathroom.

But there are lots of reasons why you should take that makeup off before you go to bed! If you frequently sleep with your makeup on, and you wonder why you have "problem" skin, that could be why.

So let's get glowing!

1) Your body temperature rises when you sleep; it's a natural occurrence and it happens to everyone. This is going to cause your pores to open up while you're sleeping. Know what happens then? All of the icky, goopy, day-old makeup you had on your face all day is going to seep right into those open pores and clog them, causing blackheads and whiteheads to pop up all over the place. And no one wants that, right?

2) Once your pores are enlarged, they're not going to smooth back out and shrink to their normal size as easily. Collagen is running out every day because we're aging, and not taking your makeup off is only going to aid in the process of enlarging those pores and making it harder to clean them out.

3) Your skin cells turn over in your sleep, and with makeup on, cell turnover becomes a much longer, more tedious process for your skin. The oxygen flow is cut off, which is going to 1. break you out (see number one) and 2. let all of the dead skin on your face build up.

So please, please, ladies and gents and everyone in between, if you really don't want to/can't clean your face because you're camping, living somewhere , etc., look for facial cleansing wipes to keep in your room with you. I suggest LUSH's 9 to 5, but that's not necessarily in everyone's price range. Some drugstore brands are: Neutrogena, Yes to Cucumbers, Almay, and Garnier Fructis. Most of them say "makeup remover wipes" or "facial cleansing wipes", so just take one of those, wipe it all over your face, and look at it afterwards and see the results! Congratulations, you'll have a lovely pad covered in a slew of color (from your eyeshadow), black (from your eyeliner), and last but not least, that gorgeous color of your foundation that is now no longer clogging your pores!
Happy cleansing! :)
